The Preh highlight at Agritechnica 2025: New control console for New Holland

Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale. Preh's Commercial Vehicle HMI division will be presenting HMI and electromobility solutions at its trade fair appearance at Agritechnica (November 9–15, 2025) in Hanover. This year's focus is on the new “Sidewinder™ Armrest,” which Preh developed in collaboration with CNH.

Under the motto “Customized HMI Systems,” Preh will be presenting multifunctional control elements in Hall 17 (Booth C46) that are intuitive to use and can be flexibly adapted to the increasing complexity of agricultural practice. The focus of the four consoles and series solutions on display will be on the “Sidewinder Armrest,” developed in collaboration with CNH.

Maximum ergonomics – compact design

The analog drive lever, newly designed for the Sidewinder, enables precise, ergonomic operation and is designed for mechanical robustness and fine signal resolution. Two specially developed CAN modules enable reliable data transmission within the armrest and to the vehicle architecture.

Jürgen Jungert, Director Commercial Vehicles at Preh, explains: "The armrest is designed for maximum robustness against liquids, dust, and weather influences in order to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of agricultural use in the long term. In addition, the electronic architecture meets all the requirements for FUSI (Functional Safety Integration) suitability, which is particularly important for safety-related control functions. Despite the increased functional requirements, it was possible to implement a space-saving design while maintaining the highest standards of ergonomics, usability, and reliability."

New bidirectional onboard charger

In the field of electrification solutions, Preh presents an innovative onboard charger that not only enables vehicle charging but also supports bidirectional energy exchange (V2G, V2L, V2V, V2H). This allows energy to be flexibly fed back to other devices, buildings, or the power grid. The system reacts dynamically to changes in grid load, actively stabilizing the power grid. Particularly noteworthy is its ability to detect and compensate for frequency fluctuations of up to ±2.5 Hz per second in real time, which significantly enhances grid security. With a charging efficiency of over 95%, the charger meets the highest efficiency standards and ensures uninterrupted energy transfer, both during charging (G2V) and feeding back (V2G).
In the commercial vehicles sector, Preh has been developing control solutions for agricultural vehicles for more than four decades. In addition to individual components, the focus is increasingly on integrated consoles and product solutions for electrically powered agricultural machinery.
