2013 Cadillac XTS and ATS to get Preh Climate Control Modules

Bad Neustadt, Germany / NOVI, Mich., USA – Preh, a leading global supplier of vehicle driver controls, sensors and electronic control units, will provide the ECU module for the climate control systems on the 2013 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan and the all-new Cadillac ATS luxury sport sedan.

The Preh system comprises an electronic control unit (ECU) and software with the necessary control algorithms to achieve a comfortable in-cabin climate for the driver and passengers, both dual-zone automatic (XTS and ATS) and tri-zone automatic (XTS). The Preh electronic control units—produced in Preh’s Trofa, Portugal facility—will be delivered to GM’s assembly plants in Lansing, Mich. (ATS) and Oshawa, Canada (XTS).

With over 25 years’ experience, Preh is at the forefront in the development and manufacture of climate control systems worldwide. The company continues to grab increased market share in climate control systems, with significant new business booked to be produced in its new assembly plant in Ningbo, China. This will be for new 2013 SUV and pickup trucks launched this year.

Besides being suppliers to the auto industry, the Joyson group of companies, Ningbo (China), also includes a real estate division—with some 6,000 employees—and made total sales of 6 billion CNY in 2012. Its automotive activities are bundled in Joyson Electronics, which is listed on the stock exchange and consists of the automotive electronics (Preh) and automotive components (Joyson) business areas. Joyson was founded as a supplier to the automobile industry in 2004, whereas Preh has a company tradition that’s almost a century old, having been founded in 1919. A majority holding in Preh was acquired in 2011, and Preh has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Joyson Electronics since late 2012.

Preh is a globally oriented supplier to the automobile industry, with more than 3,200 employees in Germany, Portugal, Romania, Mexico, the USA and China. The company is based in Bad Neustadt an der Saale, Germany. Preh’s development and manufacturing skills are concentrated on climate control, driver controls, electronic control units, sensors and assembly systems for well-known automakers.
