Center console concept from Preh

Networking mobile devices with a vehicle is enjoying increasing demand. Preh has developed a center console concept that takes this trend into account. The smartphone has undoubtedly become a daily companion for most motorists and the user interface of these end devices, which use swiping gestures or enable zoom functions to guide through menus, is indisputably practical. Such user interfaces also have a major disadvantage. The driver's gaze remains on the display longer than would be the case with a simple push of a button. The longer the view is distracted from the traffic situation, the greater the risk of an accident.
Preh's center console concept aims to harmonize usability and safety and therefore separates display and function selection. Preh implements this for operating the air conditioning system and the central controller in the center console. Here the basic central control element functions can be selected without eye contact and displayed in the driver's field of vision. This should reduce distraction to a minimum. Preh has integrated a touchpad into the rotary knob, which can be operated using smartphone-typical gestures, such as swiping and zooming.
