Conversion of AC current from the grid into DC current for the HV battery or vice versa
Electric vehicles can only be charged with direct current (DC). If an electric car is charged at the home wallbox, it will always be faced with an AC infrastructure; the majority of conventional charging stations also only allow charging with alternating current (AC).
Our on-board chargers are suitable for both single-phase and three-phase operation, which means they can be used worldwide, regardless of regional grid conditions. They also enable bidirectional charging, through which they not only absorb electricity, but can also feed surplus energy back into the grid with an output of up to 11kW (Vehicle to Grid, V2G).
In addition, our on-board chargers support the Vehicle to Load (V2L) function, which allows external electrical devices to be supplied with power directly, providing additional flexibility. Our solutions are able to handle unbalanced currents, enabling stable and flexible charging processes even under unstable grid conditions. Modern protection mechanisms and intelligent control technologies ensure a safe and efficient charging environment. Thanks to versatile interfaces and compatibility with different charging systems, our rectifiers meet the highest requirements of the automotive industry. Advanced technologies ensure high power density with compact dimensions and guarantee a first-class charging experience with maximum energy efficiency.

Additional functions
In order to offer our customers tailor-made solutions, we have a variety of cooperation models:
Includes complete development including system design, hardware, software and mechanical design. We develop according to the latest automotive standards such as the V-model and A-Spice Level 3 and carry out test and validation processes in-house.
Our customers have the option of taking over partial developments, e.g. the software or certain parts of it. All other project scopes are taken over by us in accordance with the contractual agreements.
We offer comprehensive manufacturing services for complex automotive products such as BMS and power electronics. We provide support with our expertise in technology, industrialization, logistics and production and guarantee high-quality production in large quantities.
For less complex products, we take over production according to customer specifications. The customer is responsible for development, while we carry out production according to the agreed specifications.
An onboard charger (OBC) is an essential component in the electric powertrain of an electric vehicle (EV).
Its main function is to convert the alternating current (AC) provided by the power grid - for example from a public charging station or the wallbox at home - into the direct current (DC) required to charge the battery.
The OBC is installed in the vehicle and enables the car to be connected directly to an external AC power source without the need for additional external charging electronics.
In modern vehicle architectures, the OBC can also enable bidirectional charging (V2X).
