How can we safely implement the new user habits of having mobile communication devices in our cockpits?
Operating system specialist Preh tackles challenges like this when designing center consoles - with guaranteed series suitability.
Preh heralded an evolutionary step as an automotive supplier back in 2011: large 3D glass surfaces with black panel design and a high-tech look.

With the new center console concept, which was first introduced in 2013 at the IAA (International Motor Show), Preh took another step forward.
A black panel surface that combined plastic and real glass. The key feature: The glass control panels now do not only have a noticeable surface contour,
but also offer haptic feedback.

CENTER CONSOLE CONCEPT

Preh Automotive presented their innovative operating systems (HMI) for center stacks at the IAA trade fair. Data displayed on the central displays can be moved to the instrument cluster with a simple hand movement. By selecting a function on the touch screen the user gets visual and haptic feedback. A rotary knob connects well-known mechanical operation systems with digital displays. A lot of functions can be placed on the smallest possible room.

Preh Automotive shows how electronics and mechanics can be combined in central controls on the smallest possible room, at the IAA trade fair. The company integrates a touch screen display on a rotary knob. This extremely compact design also allows integrating the rotary knob as operation control in car doors, near the steering wheel, or in roof modules.

MULTI MODAL CONTROL SYSTEM

At the IAA trade fair, Preh presented a multi modular operating system, which is a touch pad integrated in the center stack. It is a touch pad integrated in the center stack. Functions like navigation, heating and climate control can be selected. The integrated central display shows what function is active. For every selction on the touch pad, the user gets a haptic feedback. Integrated connectity applications can also be operated by co-drivers and passengers via apps on a smart phone or tablet pc.
